(PASADENA, CA) The Los Angeles charity Hillsides, headquartered in Pasadena, has expanded its blog to include wellness topics and community resources. This will complement the weekly blog already being written by Hillsides chief executive officer, Joseph M. Costa.
The wellness blog entries will be penned by Hillsides staff and cover a wide range of topics, including mental well-being, fitness, and nutrition.
“Hillsides highly trained staff is dedicated to helping children and families be their best. These posts will allow our team of experts to share healthy lifestyle tips and the latest wellness research with the greater community,” said Costa. “Our emphasis on health and fitness also reflects Hillsides commitment to our Healthy Living Strategy, which stresses healthful eating, and our recently launched Strength and Fitness program that encourages children to become more physically active.”
In addition, the wellness component to the blog is allied with Hillsides recent distinction as a Trauma-Informed Care organization. “Trauma-informed Care is a new way of handling the trauma our clients have experienced that includes stress reduction and self-care for both clients and staff,” said Costa. “We are excited to share these stress busters with the community.”
The resources section of the blog will post local services and programs available to families within the San Gabriel Valley and Los Angeles County, such as parenting classes and programs to help youth transitioning from foster care to adulthood. Hillsides is a top resource in the field of child welfare, foster care, and parenting, and “this will solidify our reputation as someone the community can turn to and trust for essential information,” said Costa.
All blog posts will appear under the general heading of “Hillsides Community Blog.” Costa’s blog, which discusses and analyzes pressing and newsworthy issues that impact Hillsides and child welfare, has been renamed “Costa’s Call.”
