LOS ANGELES, CA December 6, 2017 – On December 5, the Hillsides Guild, a support group of the foster care charity Hillsides, hosted a sold-out holiday celebration at the Parkway Grill in Pasadena, California. Some 150 guests enjoyed cocktails, appetizers, dinner and a holiday performance by the renowned Citrus Singers of Citrus College in the holiday-adorned restaurant often referred to as "the Spago of Pasadena.”  The dinner was co-chaired by Guild members Donna De Mond and Patty McAllister. Hillsides President and Chief Executive Officer Joseph M. Costa welcomed the crowd, and the Rt. Rev. John H. Taylor, the new Bishop Diocesan of the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles, gave the blessing for the evening.

The Hillsides Guild Holiday Celebration at the Parkway Grill is an annual event to kick off the holidays and raise awareness for Hillsides. The Guild raises funds for Hillsides and puts on activities for the children in residence on the Pasadena campus.

Attending the event were many Hillsides board members, including Don Clark and his wife Sally, LeeAnn Havner and her husband Ronald, Steve Nishibayashi and his wife Mary Dee Hacker, Debbe Booth, Susan Noce, and Lyn Spector.  Gregg Smith, co-owner of Smith Brothers Restaurant Corporation that owns the Parkway Grill, was also in attendance, as were Hillsides Chief Advancement Officer Carrie Espinoza, and Hillsides Director of Major Gifts and Planned Giving Jackie Broxton. Guild members who attended included Guild president Cathy Brennan, Phyllis D’Ambra, Aline Kuhnle, Armida Baylon, Cynthia Kumanchik, Patti Wickersham, Barbara Robison, Maureen Staley, Cathy Sedlik, Millie Bodwell, Sue Tutt, Roberta Martin, Claudia Calandrino, and Elizabeth Keller.

The menu for the night consisted of organic field greens with cabrales bleu cheese, red wine poached pears, candied pecans, and raspberry vinaigrette; grilled filet mignon with rosemary roasted fingerling potatoes, agridulce of wild mushrooms, caramelized shallots, and peppercorn veal jus with charred broccolini; and for dessert, crème brûlée Napoleon.
