LOS ANGELES, December 4, 2017 --  Hillsides, a Southern California foster care charity, won a PRism Award for Feature Stories and an Award for Excellence in Public Service for the nonprofit category at the 53 Annual PRism Awards Show held by the Public Relations Society of America, Los Angeles Chapter (PRSA-LA) in Los Angeles on November 29.

“We are thrilled that our efforts to highlight the important work being done at Hillsides was recognized,” said Marisol Barrios, Hillsides senior director of communications and marketing. “This year, with our recent affiliation with Bienvenidos, we highlighted our Bienvenidos Foster Care and Adoptions program by writing feature stories on a couple who have taken in 34 children in foster care and a little girl who found her forever family through adoption. We wanted to present stories with heart, but also had the goal of informing our stakeholders about this new program.”

PRSA-LA is comprised of nearly 600 agency, in-house and independent public relations professionals representing LA-area corporations, academic institutions, government agencies and nonprofit organizations.  It was incorporated in 1948 as one of the first five founding chapters of the Public Relations Society of America. Each year the Los Angeles chapter recognizes outstanding programs and materials created by public relations professionals who work in the greater Los Angeles area or have completed assignments for LA-based clients.

Other businesses and organizations winning 2017 PRism awards included NBC4 Southern California,   Blue Shield of California, and Princess Cruises.  For a complete list of award winners, please visit: https://prsala.org/53rd-annual-prism-awards/.
