Singer Lisa Donahey will perform songs from her new CD, LISA DONAHEY: Takes on Broadway, during an album launch event and charity benefit concert to be held on Wednesday night, June 25, at the Wells Fargo Theater at the Autry National Center in Los Angeles. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Hillsides.
Donahey, a Southern California native, has been singing and performing since she was 10 years old and saw her first musical production of “Annie.” “From that moment, I was hooked and knew I wanted to sing and perform,” she recalled.
Donahey went on to have an extensive music career. She graduated from Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA, where she received the award for outstanding performer of the year. While at Berklee, she was also asked to perform with many noted recording artists, including pop singer Sting and the jazz quartet The Manhattan Transfer. Today, her distinct vocals can be heard on television shows and movies, such as the hit sitcom “The Middle” and Disney’s “Tangled.” She works regularly with notable songwriters and film scorers in the music industry.
Donahey has been a supporter of Hillsides for some 15 years, and this is the second concert she has done in recent years on behalf of Hillsides. “I love that Hillsides doesn’t give up on kids who need a little more help. It is a place where children can grow and blossom no matter their circumstances,” she said.
During the concert, Donahey will be backed by a 14-piece orchestra. The orchestra members are professional musicians who have gathered together for this special night. The audience can expect to hear fresh and original arrangements of Broadway favorites, new and old, such as “Send in the Clowns,” “Get Happy,” and “On the Street Where You Live,” as well as a few other musical surprises.
The evening will kick off with a reception and silent auction at 6:30 p.m. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. After the show, those buying Donahey’s new CD will be able to have them signed.
Pre-sold general tickets are $40 per ticket, and $45 at the door. VIP tickets, which include refreshments, preferred seating, a copy of Donahey’s new CD, and a gift bag, are $75. All ticket prices are tax-deductible.
