(PASADENA) Hillsides has been selected by Thomas Safran and Associates (TSA), a Los Angeles affordable housing developer, as the recipient of the company’s seventh annual Big Give. On Thursday, September 11, 175 TSA employees will arrive at Hillsides main campus in Pasadena to paint and landscape. They will then host a carnival for the Hillsides children that includes food, music, a rock wall, a dunk tank, and games.
Each year for the past seven years TSA has partnered with one non-profit for a Big Give. The Big Give begins with a month-long fundraising drive by the company’s staff and residents of its buildings to raise money and collect in-kind donations. This year, employees answered the “wish lists” of the children at Hillsides.
Hillsides main campus is located at 940 Avenue 64, Pasadena, CA 91105. The day kicks off with a program scheduled from 9:00 a.m. – 9: 45 a.m. which will culminate with TSA presenting a “reveal” check to Hillsides for the amount of all the funds raised. From 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., TSA volunteers will beautiful the campus. The children’s carnival will run from 1:30 p.m. – 3: 30 p.m.
“We are honored and grateful that out of the many worthwhile charities in the area, Thomas Safran and Associates has chosen this year to give to Hillsides,” said Hillsides CEO Joseph M. Costa. “This is the biggest volunteer event we’ve ever hosted, and we are thankful for the tremendous time and effort each employee has put into making the day a success.”
TSA selected Hillsides for the Big Give “because of its exceptional track record in providing quality services to hundreds of children in Los Angeles County’s foster care system,” said Jordan Pynes, the president of management at TSA. “After our first visit to the Pasadena campus, we knew there was something special about this organization and we wanted to support all their great efforts.”
TSA owns and manages more than 5,000 units of affordable housing in California. The company is deeply committed to giving back to the community. Its goal is to enhance the world in which we live and enrich the lives of the people who reside in their buildings.
The timing of the Big Give to September 11, the day of the 2001 terrorists attacks, is significant. “We feel it is important to transform this important day so it is no longer just about mourning, but also about community, giving back and hope,” said Pynes. Two of Hillsides most ardent supporters, David and Lynn Angell, lost their lives during the tragedy when their plane crashed into the World Trade Center.
Presenting sponsors of The Big Give are the general contracting firm ICON Builders, Union Bank, and the Southern California non-profit BookEnds.
