LOS ANGELES – May 10, 2017 – The La Cañada Thursday Club has awarded a $1,000 scholarship to a local youth, Hope Morrison. Morrison is a former resident of Youth Moving On (YMO), a program of Hillsides, a Southern California foster care charity. Morrison was selected from eight finalists who have received or currently are receiving services from YMO. She was awarded the check at a tea held at the La Cañada Thursday Club. This is the second year in a row the club has awarded a current or former YMO youth a scholarship.

LOS ANGELES, May 15, 2017 – Hillsides, a Southern California foster care charity, has received a $5,000 grant from the Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts (PSHA). The grant will fund Hillsides music education program. The music program provides music classes and enrichment activities to the students of Hillsides Education Center, a therapeutic K-12 school for children with social-emotional, learning, and/or behavioral challenges.

LOS ANGELES, CA, April 25, 2017 – The Margie & Robert E. Petersen Foundation has awarded Hillsides, a Southern California foster care charity, a $5 million grant for youth who are at risk, the largest grant ever received in Hillsides’ 104-year-old history. The gift will be used to support transition-aged youth ages 16-24 though an array of social, educational and mental health services. The needs of these youth include education, employment, housing, independent living skills, mental healthcare and peer support.

LOS ANGELES, CA, April 12, 2017 - Hillsides, a Southern California foster care charity, raised $20,000 during the third annual Battle of the Paddles ping pong tournament held on April 6 at the SPiN Standard in Downtown Los Angeles. Local businesses and individuals signed up to sponsor teams and to vie for both a team and individual championship. For a second year in a row, David Shlomi of Rising Realty Partners was the individual winner of the tournament.

LOS ANGELES, April 11, 2017 -- Hillsides, a Southern California foster care charity, raised nearly $15,000 during its annual Day at the Races at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia on April 2. More than 115 supporters enjoyed a day of lunch at the FrontRunner restaurant and horse racing while benefiting the 104-year-old agency. Guests also participated in a silent auction that raised funds for Hillsides. Day at the Races is hosted by the Hillsides Guild, a support group of Hillsides.
